Jeans For Curvy Women

For women with curves, shopping can be a challenge. Finding garments that fit waists while accommodating hips and thighs is especially challenging and there is little as challenging as finding jeans that fit. Jeans for curvy women are quickly finding their niche in the denim department. No longer forced to find what they’re looking for in the slim, petite, medium, tall or plus-sized departments, women with curves are now able to leave the department store satisfied.

Nearly every manufacturer of jeans is jumping onto the curvy bandwagon. The Levi Strauss Company, the creators of the original blue jeans has gone so far as to resize their whole women’s jeans line, reinventing how women shop for their denims. Their new sizing method begins with a woman identifying her curve, be it slight, demi, bold or supreme. Curves can be determined by either choosing a shape and identifying fit issues usually encountered in jeans, or measuring hips, seat and thighs and entering them in their fit calculator. Their size chart has changed to accommodate their CurveID line of jeans, so women should not expect to remain the same size.

PZI Jeans, established in 2002, offers nothing but jeans for curvy women. Their specialized sizing charts expect a difference of at least ten inches between the waist and hip measurements and their jeans are created accordingly.

Joe’s Jeans, clothing celebrities such as Whitney Port, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Ciara, Holly Hunter and more, has a curvy fit jean as well. Called the Honey Fit, it comes in a variety of styles and washes.

Cookie Johnson, the wife of former Basketball star Magic Johnson, designed and created the CJ brand with tons of stretch to accommodate curves. Their sizing chart allows for eleven inches between waist and hip, whereas typical jeans of old barely allowed for nine.

The Australian designed Tres Bliss jeans feature sculpted waistbands designed to fit the waist of a curvy woman. Their collection features numerous styles, not limited only to jeans.

Apple Bottom jeans, designed by rapper Nelly, has been cited as a brand for curvy women since their development in 2003. The line features many styles and even more color choices.
Women with curves are finally coming into their own and are finally able to embrace their body shape as it pertains to their clothing and particularly as it pertains to denim. Gone are the days where you either fit or you don’t, the days of forcing yourself into tight, constricting denim with barely enough room to breathe and certainly not enough room to eat. With popular companies producing jeans built for curvy women, it is hoped they will become mainstream. Levi’s presents an affordable, well-known option and we will hope to see more such appearing in the future.
